Description / Expertise: George III Mahogany Drop Dial "Tavern" Wall Clock, R. Fletcher, Chester. 16" painted steel dial with Roman numerals fronting an eight-day weight driven movement with anchor escapement. The moulded hinged bezel above a long trunk door with corner shell shaped ears and concave base. 47”h x 19.5”w x 8” deep - Robert Fletcher was a well-known Chester maker and is recorded working as a clock & watch maker at several Chester addresses in the late 18th century ~ Linenhall Street (1782), Foregate Street (1789-95), Upper (Higher) Bridge Street (1792).
